In an effort to locate some games that Parker could play (almost 5 years old), I orderd a copy of Kids of Catan. I am a big fan of the Catan series of games and hoped this would prove to be a good one for the little ones.
The game was great for someone his age, but I think he will quickly outgrow it as he gets to be 5 and 6 years old. Over the last couple of weeks we have played this game quite a bit. There is no strategy, it is all random chance with rolling a die and moving around the board.
It really gives Parker a feeling that he is taking part in the family gaming and he also doesn't seem as upset when my older gaming buddies come over for a game and he can't join in, because he knows he now has his own games that we can play on our own.
In the game we played today Parker won with me close behind followed by Brandon and in last place Mommy.
